High school softball players from the Muskegon area will be watched in 2022 ...

Oakridge advances to Ravenna in a fight for the West Michigan Conference softball to win the championship.

MUSKEGON The 2022 high school softball season is already underway, but we wanted to highlight some of the top returning players from last spring, as well as a few new names to watch out for as we look into the early rounds.

In 2022, here is a list of some of the most prominent Muskegon-area softball players to watch.

Reeths-Puffer, Caitlynn Duffey

Duffey recorded a.353 batting average with five home runs, ten doubles, 34 RBI, 33 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases from the circle. Duffey finished the season with a 3.342 ERA with 204 strikeouts in 111 innings of action.

Brooklyn Galdeen and Oakridge are all on the lookout.

The Eagles' senior will play a.513 batting average, with 12 home runs, 69 RBI, 20 doubles, and 69 runs scored. Galdeen finished 18-4 as a starter with a 1.90 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 131 innings.

Ravenna, Emma Gillard

Gillard, a junior for the Bulldogs, was a critical member of a team that went 24-3 last season, scoring a batting average of.575 with three home runs, four triples, four runs scored, and 47 RBI. From the start, Gillard became a starter with an ERA of 2.01 with 167 strikeouts in 132 innings of work.

Oakridge, Kaelinn Jozsa

The Eagles' sophomore had a stellar first season at the varsity level with a 15-1 record as the team's starting pitcher with 102 strikeouts over 82 innings. From the plate, Jozsa recorded a.404 batting average with six home runs, 11 doubles, 42 RBI, and 46 runs scored.

Oakridge, Jasmine Pastor

Last season, the senior for the Eagles earned All-State accolades with 11 home runs, 66 RBI, 54 runs scored, 18 doubles, and two triples.

Holton, Ryann Robins

The sophomore for the Red Devils earned All-State honors last spring with a batting average of.486 with 13 home runs, 69 RBI, and 11 doubles. From the field, she tied a 14-2 record as a starter with a 2.2 ERA with 130 strikeouts.

Grand Haven, Regan Riemersma

The senior for the Buccaneers is one of the better power pitchers in this spring because she already showed plenty of velocity on her pitches with a fastball that regularly levels 60 MPH. The Central Arkansas commitment should keep her squad in every game she starts from the circle.

Holton, Abigail Fowler

The sophomore for the Red Devils earned All-State honors last spring after recording a batting average of.473 with 41 stolen bases. From the circle, she started a 10-day start with a 2.4 ERA and 98 strikeouts.

Reeths-Puffer, Kaylee Jones

With six home runs, 10 doubles, three triples, 19 RBI, and 18 stolen bases, the sophomore for the Rockets hit a.488 batting average.

Whitehall, Kyleigh Martin

Last spring, the senior for the Vikings recorded a.395 batting average with 11 doubles, three triples, and 44 RBI. Martin from the circle had a 3.56 ERA and a WHIP of 1.22 with 236 strikeouts.

Mona Shores, Elizabeth Savacool

With 12 home runs, 13 doubles, three triples, 37 RBI, and 46 runs scored, the senior for the Sailors averaged a.400.

Kendall Zoulek and Shelby are both married.

Last spring, the senior for the Tigers posted a.547 batting average as she led her team in hits and RBI on her way to all-confernece and all-district honors.

Skylar Smith and Hart are all well-known.

The senior for the Pirates is ending two straight all-conference and all-region seasons and will be counted on as a leader for her team this spring at both catcher and shortstop.

Mason County Central, Alex Luttrell

Last spring, the junior for the Spartans is returning from an all-conference and all-district season, where she achieved.545 on the plate.
