This spring, here are 12 players to watch in the Jackson-area softball ...

JACKSON -- The softball season is approaching, with some of the players to play that will have an impact in the circle, on the field, and in the batter's box for Jackson-area teams.

There is still a lot of season to go, and a lot of players will have a chance to make an impact for their teams.

The Panthers pitcher is a threat both in the head at the plate. In a doubleheader against Whitmore Lake, she had nine strikeouts in one game and three hits in the other.

Bradford was the first-team all-state in 2021 after having 242 strikeouts and a 1.03 ERA. This spring, the Blackhawks will have a strong start after a nine strikeout performance in the first game of a doubleheader defeat to Stockbridge.

The Northwest senior pitcher will be plying her trade at Grand Valley next season, but before she wears her Mounties uniform for a Lakers shirt, she has some unfinished business. Already the holder of the school record for strikeouts in a season with 294, the riseball specialist hopes to break her own record and the 300 mark this spring.

As a freshman in all-conference, Kloack will take on a long-term follow-up campaign this year. She posted a.395 average, 33 RBIs, and a 1.109 OPS last year.

The senior had five hits in the Panther's doubleheader defeat against Lumen Christi, bringing an explosive bat to a team capable of making runs in bunches.

Omey earned honorable mention All-State honors last year. She helped lead a district title in 2021 for the Pirates. She will bring her talents to Davenport University next spring.

The future Youngstown State Penguin has a strong back to the left side of the Mounties' infield as well as a strong bat to the Northwest lineup.

The Manchester catcher won a school-record 56 runs last year, but is off to a fantastic start this spring after winning three times in a win against Dundee April 11.

The Golden Eagles senior infielder scored a.528 batting average and eight home runs in 2021 when he win 2-1 on April 12th. Tompkins helped the Golden Eagles win 6-0.

Last year, the sophomore completed a school-record 91 RBI.

The all-state honorable mention pick in 2021 is holding down the top spot in the Blackhawks lineup this spring. The centerfielder scored.546 in last year with 35 RBIs.

This spring, the Panthers' unquestionable ace who was splitting starts a year ago. She is making the most of the chance, such as in a doubleheader with Lumen Christi, where she pitched back-to-back no-hitters, striking out 20.
