According to reports, the Detroit Lions will have eight selections and not nine in this year's NFL draft.
Why is this the case?
It appears that the NFL had sucked things up in its twice-released draft order.
Pick 234 will fly to the Denver Broncos via the Trinity Benson trade, according to the Athletic. The terms of the transaction were previously thought to have been met to keep Pick 234 in Detroit, but the situation has been so severe.
Benson had a good season before the regular season started. The Lions were selected for a fifth and seventh round pick for Benson and a future sixth-rounder. Benson scored 10 passes on 22 goals for 103 yards and no touchdowns in eight games.
While that never happened, the Lions remain high on the unheralded receiver.
"I'm still amazed by this Trinity Benson kid," says the head of the school. "I'm telling you, he is still piquing my interest. I just got to get him (right). He'll be all right. I think he'll assist us."
In this year's draft, see below for an updated breakdown of Lions picks:
Round 1, pick two
