After the first two days of the NBA play-in tournament, four teams have remained to secure the two eight-seed seed in the respective Eastern and Western Conferences on Friday night.

(9) Atlanta Hawks vs. (8) Cleveland Cavaliers

After a shady loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night, Cleveland rallied to 115-108.

With their season on the line on Wednesday, the Hawks put in one of their best performances of the season in their 9/10 matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. After leading the Hornets by eight at halftime, Atlanta put up 72 points in the final two quarters, ending a 132-103 victory, with Trae Young leading the Hawks with 24 points. Atlanta is hoping to compete in the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in five years.

The Cavs have to be patient on Friday night, especially since the Hawks won three of the four regular season meetings this year.

The Pelicans of New Orleans face off against the Clippers of Los Angeles on Thursday (9)

The Clippers lost a two-point lead in Tuesday's Play-In opener, but the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Clippers 31-20, coming away with a 109-104 victory. Los Angeles is hoping to avoid going into the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

The Pelicans were able to maintain their season high despite giving up more than 100 points. However, New Orleans wasn't out-played by the San Antonio Spurs, but it was too little, too late. CJ McCollum led the floor with 32 points in the 113-103 victory, with Jonas Valanciunas scoring a double-double with 22 points and 14 assists.

New Orleans might have a less rest compared to L.A., but they have had the Clippers' number in the 2021-22 season, as the Pelicans won three of the four matchups, despite Los Angeles winning the last meeting earlier this month.
