According to Navisite's recent survey, women are being given a higher standard than their male colleagues, but they're being asked to perform the most difficult administrative tasks. In fact, 75 percent of respondents say they or their female colleagues are consistently asked to handle more administrative tasks than their male counterparts, including receiving meeting invites, reserve meeting rooms, or prepare refreshments. Also, 86% of women say they've been accused of being too emotional in the workplace.
The results of Navisite's recent survey reveal the reality that tech workers continue to feel uncomfortable in the workplace. When it comes to the glass ceiling, 64% believe there's no crack in it or it has barely splintered, with only 2% believing it is destroyed.
Navisite interviewed 100 women in the technology industry, two-thirds of whom hold engineering or technical roles. Observations also focused on women's attitudes towards being paid fairly than male employees, and whether they feel encouraged to pursue a career in technology despite the work that needs to be done.
