Scarlet will be the first film at this year's 54th Directors' Fortnight.
The first episode of the drama, qui enlivens the story of Juliette growing up alone with her First World War veteran father, and whom a traveling magician has given a prophecy, will premiere on May 18, according to authorities.
Marcello's film, inspired by Aleksandr Grin's tale, blends music, history, and folklore, spanning on magic realism. Raphal Thiery, Juliette Jouan, Louis Garrel, and Noemie Lvovsky are stars in the film, which is being distributed in France by Le Pacte, where international sales are handled by Orange Studio.
The entire casting for this year's Directors' Fortnight will be announced on April 19th. Created in 1969 by the French Directors' Guild (SRF, Societe des Realisateurs de Films), the Directors' Fortnight is a parallel selection of the Cannes Film Festival that showcases a wide spectrum of films and highlights the most unique and visionary practices in contemporary cinema.
