At the NCAA gymnastics championship meeting in Fort Worth, Texas, Oregon State freshman Jade Carey finished fourth in all-around and second on uneven bars.

Carey, the 2021 Olympic gold medalist in floor exercise, scored 39.650 in all-around. Trinity Thomas, the all-around champion, finished with a 10 on floor to score 39.8125.

Carey had an individual event score of 9.95 on uneven bars, 9.5 on balance beam, 9.8875 on vault, and 9.9125 on floor. Thomas edged Carey on uneven bars, putting 9.975.

Carey was Oregon State's sole competitor at the nationals. Carey's fourth-place finish is the country's second best all-time. Mary Ayotte-Law scored third in 1982. Carey is the fourth Beaver to finish second on unjust bars.

Carey had the nation's best score and average all-around score despite being undefeated in all-around, including regionals.

Carey's national match came off a rocky start with a 9.8875 on vault, the only time she scored less than 9.9 in any event this season. Carey picked it up with excellent beam and vault scores, but couldn't make up ground on floor, one of her best events.
