New basketball coaches have been named, including Jeremy Monceaux at Hewitt-Trussville ...

As the new coach of the Hewitt-Trussville boys basketball, Jeremy Monceaux is returning to the Birmingham area.

He is one of the state's many new basketball coaches.

Jeff Baker is a replacement for Monceaux, who left after four seasons with the Huskies.

"I am humbled and beyond excited to represent Hewitt-Trussville High School and the Trussville community as its head basketball coach," Monceaux said in a statement. "I am confident that we can build a program that will compete at the highest levels of basketball in our state, while also providing a fun and enriching experience for our student-athletes. There is a lot to do, and I am looking forward to starting the work.

Monceaux was a professional basketball player with eight years of high school experience. Last season, he coached Springville to a 25-6 record and was the head coach at Clay-Chalkville 2014-2021, where his teams advanced to the playoffs six times and won five area titles. He's the all-time leader in school victories.

With 4,555 points at Parkway Christian between 1998 and 2002, the former Liberty University player scored another 1,799 points in previous Louisiana prep play.

Desmond Phillips has announced on Twitter that he is working with Austin, instead of Major Deacon.

It's a pleasure and a pleasure to be able to coach and lead the young men at my alma mater. I'm beyond excited for this opportunity and ready to get to work! What happened once a black bear is always a black bear! THE BEGINNING!

Theodore

Chip Menton, a Theodore quarterback, has announced the hiring of Rotassia Worsham as the Bobcats' new girls basketball coach. She replaces Terry McClure. This time, Worsham has been a regular visitor to Theodore from Minor High School in Birmingham. The Bobcats finished 20-8 this season, losing to Davidson in the Class 7A Southwest Regional final.

Baker

Baker High is considering hiring Tori Johnson as its new girls basketball coach pending approval from the Mobile County Board of Education. Johnson replaces Lauren Walker, who left to become an AAU coach and under Armour coach this past season. The Pirates lost to Theodore in the Class 7A Southwest Regional semifinals in Montgomery.

We are really delighted to have Tori, said Baker AD Daniel Curtis. She brings a lot of knowledge and experience to Baker. I think she will do a fantastic job in helping us develop the program. We wanted to work on what Lauren established, and turn it into a contender every year. We believe Tori will do that for us.
