A woman was seriously injured in a shooting Wednesday night in exactly the same location as a double shooting last year that left a 16-year-old injured.

On a note of shots fired, East Precinct officers were dispatched at 6:45 p.m. to Magnolia Court Apartments on Westchester Court.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said officers learned while on course they had a person shot. Once on the scene, they discovered an adult female in the parking lot.

While still on the scene, she became responsive, although her injuries are gravely ill. She was transported to the United Alabama Hospital by the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

On Sunday, the parking lot of Magnolia Ridge is also open.

Police were on the scene in the parking lot in the case in which Fitzgerald said a large number of spent shell casings. While there, they learned that two shooting victims were at nearby Summit Ridge Apartments.

The 16-year-old boy was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is expected to be well-being.

While Fitzgerald said it is not yet known if the two shootings are linked, they are examining the possibility because of the proximity of the two scenes.

He said the motive for tonight's shooting is unknown, but that the authorities aren't deciding on robbery.
