Iran Reported The Successful Launch Of The First Military Satellite
The Iranian revolutionary guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday announced on its website the successful launch of the first military satellite.
The satellite, called "Nur" ("Light" in Persian), was launched into a calculated orbit using a two-stage launch vehicle at an altitude of 425 km from the Earth. It was launched from a landfill in the Dasht-e Kavir desert.
The Associated Press, in turn, notes that there is no official independent confirmation of the launch yet.
Earlier, several failed attempts by Iran to launch satellites were reported.
