Lufthansa To Cut More Than A Thousand Pilots
The management of the German airline Lufthansa intends to reduce about 1,1 thousand pilots — much more than was announced in June, according to Spiegel.
According to him, the relevant information became known during the meeting of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa held at the beginning of the week. The publication emphasizes that in June, the airline announced plans to reduce up to 600 pilots.
It's worth noting that the cuts are associated with a further drop in demand. Some of the pilots will retire early, some will be transferred to part-time work.
Lufthansa reported at the height of the coronavirus pandemic that it was losing a million euros an hour. Lufthansa shareholders in June almost unanimously, 98% of the vote, approved a package of assistance from the state in the amount of 9 billion euros.
