Due to casting limitations, Raytheon Technologies Corp said on Wednesday that its Pratt and Whitney aircraft might not ship around 70 engines to Airbus SE in the first quarter of 2022.
Because of the casting limitations, Raytheon's CEO Greg Hayes said at the Barclays Industrial Conference, "Pratt will probably not ship."
As Airbus boosts production, Hayes' remarks confirm pressure on supply chains. In January, aircraft that were due for delivery in 2022 were already predicted a few months late, with the possibility of some deliveries drifting into 2023.
Forgings and castings are among the most severe items in the aerospace supply chain and have relatively long lead times.
