According to a document, Tesla Inc intends to increase parts production at its Shanghai factory to meet its growing demand for exports.

The automaker will create workshops, increase the number of workers, and prolong the time it can take to operate, according to the document.

Exact figures have been removed from the document, which was last updated on Tuesday. Tesla did not respond to a request for clarification.

Tesla's Shanghai factory is currently capable of producing a combined 450,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles a year.

Last year, it sold over 470,000 Chinese-made automobiles.

In 2021, a news agency in China reported that more than 160,000 Tesla China-made automobiles were sold overseas.

Tesla plans to invest up to 1.2 billion yuan ($190 million) in its Shanghai factory, thus permitting it to employ 4,000 more employees at the site in November.
