In the 2021 NFL season, the Chicago Bears wide receiver from Gadsden City High School became the eighth former Alabama prep player to record a 1,000-yard receiving season.
The other seven are among the top eight in NFL receiving yards by Alabama high school graduates. Mooney completed 81 receptions for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns in 2021, thus he still has a few years to go before he can get the career clearance.
Terrell Owens, who plays nine people in Alabama, with seven, John Stallworth, and Ozzie Newsome with two weeks to go, with Jerricho Cotchery and Red Phillips each.
Jones' pursuit of Owens was stalled as the former Alabama high school player with the most NFL receiving yards for the second season in a row. In 2021, Jones missed seven games, and his 434 receiving yards were the fewest in his NFL career.
During the 2021 NFL season, thirteen Alabama high schools caught passes, and three additional wide receivers received more yards than Jones.
The Philadelphia Eagles scored 43 receptions for 647 yards and one touchdown in his second season.
The Raiders ended Ruggs' second season with seven games. After being accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, he was pronounced dead after a fatal car accident in Las Vegas.
The Houston Texans received 33 receptions for 446 yards and one touchdown in his rookie season.
When he passed Stallworth, Owens became the former Alabama high school player with the most NFL receiving yards in 2004, when he passed him. Stallworth had replaced Newsome, who had supplanted Phillips, who had replaced Hill, who played his final NFL game on October 28, 1962.

The San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 2006-08, the Buffalo Bills, and the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a former Benjamin Russell High School standout. He also earned 1,078 passes, averaged 14.8 yards per reception, and scored 153 receiving touchdowns during his career. He also ranked eighth in receptions and third in touchdown catches. In 2018, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
2. Julio Jones: 13,330 receiving yards
The Atlanta Falcons' 2011-20 victory against the Tennessee Titans in 2021: Former Foley High School friend has scored 879 passes, averaged 15.2 yards per reception, and scored 61 receiving touchdowns throughout his career.
3. John Stallworth: 8,723 receiving yards
In 1974-1987, former Tuscaloosa High School and standout scored 537 passes, averaged 16.2 yards per reception, and scored 63 receiving touchdowns. Stallworth played on four Super Bowl-winning teams, caught 11 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns in those NFL championship games. In 2002, Stallworth was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
4. Ozzie Newsome: 7,980 receiving yards
The Cleveland Browns' former quarterback caught 662 passes, averaged 12.1 yards per reception, and scored 47 receiving touchdowns during his career. Newsome is the franchise's leading receiver and receptionist.
6. Jerricho Cotchery: 6,623 receiving yards
The New York Jets in 2004-10, the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011-13, and the Carolina Panthers in 2014-15: The former Phillips High School standout hone 524 passes, averaged 12.6 yards per reception, and scored 34 receiving touchdowns during his career. Cotchery had 1,130 receiving yards in 2007 for his top season.

The Los Angeles Rams, 1958-64, Vikings, and the former Benjamin Russell High School standout scored 401 passes, averaged 15.1 yards per reception, and scored 34 receiving touchdowns during his career. Phillips was an All-Pro selection in 1961, when he led the NFL with 78 receptions, and reached 1,092 receiving yards.
5. Rich Caster: 5,515 receiving yards
The New York Jets 1970-1977, the Houston Oilers 1981, and the Washington Redskins 1981-82 are among the players on the top 10 list, with Terrell Owens, Julio Jones, John Stallworth, Jerricho Cotchery, Red Phillips, and Harlon Hill, both with tight ends. With a 6-foot-5 and a 228 pounds, Caster may play a wide receiver. Tony Nathan is a running back.
8. Harlon Hill: 4,717 receiving yards
The Chicago Bears, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Detroit Lions, all rallied 233 passes, averaged 20.2 yards per reception, and scored 40 receiving touchdowns during his career. Hill earned the Newspaper Enterprise Association's NFL MVP Award for the 1955 season, and his career yards-per-catch average is the third-best in league history among qualified players.
9. Marcus Pollard: 4,280 receiving yards
Former Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks 1995-2004, Detroit Lions 2005-06, Seattle Seahawks 2008: Pollard didn't play football in college and he scored 40 receiving touchdowns. He went to the NFL after playing basketball at Bradley.
9. Tony Nathan: 3,592 receiving yards
The Woodlawn High School and Alabama standout completed 383 passes and averaged 9.4 yards per reception during his career. Nathan is the seventh Alabama high school player to score 3,543 yards per game.
