FLINT, MI Applications for the vacant Flint Community Schools Board of Education seat are due on March 9th.

The vacant seat was left open after the district's youngest board member, 35-year-old Adrian Walker, resigned from his position on February 16.

Walker is stepping up to a new position with the State of Michigan, which he hasn't yet been made public, according to the Flint Journal.

Anita Moore, a newly elected member who failed to complete the requirements on time to take office on January 15, 2021, was elected president.

The board of directors will meet with applicants at its next meeting on Tuesday, March 14.

On the internet, applications are to be submitted to Monaca Elston, the board's executive assistant, by Friday, March 9.

The applications may be made in person at the Flint Community Schools administration building, located at 923 E. Kearsley St., or sent to.

After they resigned in September 2021, the newly appointed board member will join a board with two other appointed members -- Chris Del Morone and Allen Gilbert.
