A Starbucks employee sent a letter to a teenage girl sitting alone, making sure she was okay when she was approached by a stranger she didn't know, and the gesture has now gone viral.
If you do, you should take the lid off the cup, according to the worker. "It's okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup," says the worker on the cup of "an extra hot chocolate that someone forgot to pick up."
In a Facebook post on Friday, Brandy Roberson, the anonymous 18-year-old girl, described the barista, claiming she was studying alone.
"She wanted to go out of the house and sit and study somewhere. "She likes to go research at coffee shops," Roberson said in an email.
After a stranger was described as "animated" starting talking to her, the barista reportedly handed the teenager hot chocolate with the note. The teen told her mother what happened when she returned home.
It made me feel so grateful that the Starbucks employees were watching out for her. That is my worst worry as a mother that something would happen to my kid, and nobody would be there to assist.
"It sounded like he was quite intelligent," said one employee. He had also not come in with my daughter, so they knew she probably did not know him.
The teen also appreciated the kind gesture, reassuring her that she was safe. A man reportedly became aware that the teen was communicating with the barista, leaving her alone.
