Rostec Showed A Mock-up Of The Russian 5G Base Station

The Russian State Corporation Tostec presented a model of the Russian base station of the fifth-generation mobile communication network (5G). The presentation took place as part of the conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" (DIIR).

The base station development project was financed from the own funds of the Kryptonite research and production company (JV of the Automatika concern and X Holding). Development and production are planned within the framework of the technical cooperation of Russian manufacturing companies that have experience and expertise for mobile communication networks.

The base station layout works in stand-alone mode, which allows you to implement the full functionality of the 5G network. The functional layout demonstrates the 5G network capabilities such as mobile Internet, mobile virtual reality, augmented reality, and 4K video streaming.

"The sample presented at the CIPR-2020 is a Russian development. It is compatible with any manufacturer's equipment from any country, as long as it also works in accordance with international standards. Rostec will become the coordinator of production cooperation between developers and manufacturers of 5G equipment in Russia," said Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov.

According to the roadmap for the development of 5G technology in Russia in 2020-2024, the development and commissioning of the production line of equipment for the construction of 5G networks, according to current estimates, will require about 40 billion rubles of budget and extra-budgetary funds.
