Sony Officially Announced The PlayStation 5 Price And Release Date

Sony has announced the price and release date of the PlayStation 5 game console. As it was announced during the presentation, which took place online on YouTube and Twitch, the new console will start selling on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and in other regions — on November 19.

For a "regular" PS5 with a drive for Blu-ray discs, 4K will ask for $499.99 (about 37,500 rubles at the current exchange rate) for the Digital Edition without it - $399.99 (~30,000 rubles). Pre-order for new products in several countries will be available today, September 17.

For comparison, the PS4 at the start of sales in November 2013 cost $399 (now - $299). The more powerful PS4 Pro, released in November 2016, was also priced at $399. Whether the production of these models will be discontinued after the release of the PS5 is not yet said.

Microsoft announced pricing for the new Xbox last week. The flagship Xbox Series X model, which can run some games in 8K resolution and guarantees smooth play in 4K, will cost $499, while the simpler and more compact Xbox Series S will cost $299. Pre-orders will open on September 22, and new items will go on sale by November 10.
