Kuwait Intends To Open The Largest LNG Terminal In The Middle East
Kuwait is going to open in March the largest LNG terminal in the Middle East, which will increase the capacity of the region almost twice, according to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the situation.
"Kuwait intends to open the largest LNG import terminal in the Middle East in March... Al-Zour will allow Kuwait to receive 22 million tons of LNG (about 31 billion cubic meters) per year, which will almost double the capacity of the region," the report said.
The sources said that the Kuwaiti authorities have not yet decided whether to leave the current terminal used for importing LNG with a capacity of 5.8 million tons per year after the new terminal is put into operation.
One of the sources also said that in the coming days, a division of the state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) - Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Co. select a company that will serve Al-Zawr for five years.
