Maduro Announced The Capture Of A US Spy At An Oil Refinery
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the detention of an alleged American spy with weapons at an oil refinery in the state of Falcon and spoke about a plan to sabotage the Palito plant.
"Yesterday, we captured an American spy in the state of Falcon who was spying on the Amuay and Cardon oil refineries," the President said during a meeting with the youth wing of the social party of Venezuela.
Maduro said the detained American is "a marine who worked at CIA bases in Iraq."
"He was detained with a heavy specialized weapon and a large number of cash dollars, as well as other things that we passed directly to the Prosecutor's office. He is now giving evidence," Maduro added.
According to the politician, two days ago, oil Minister Tarek El-Aissami, together with a group of expert engineers, prevented an impending explosion at the El Palito oil refinery.
The Cardon plant, with a capacity of 305,000 barrels per day, is part of the Paraguana oil refining center, the largest in the country and the second-largest in the world with a declared processing volume of almost one million barrels per day — 72% of the processing capacity of PDVSA state Corporation in Venezuela.
