The Investigative Committee Of Belarus Refused To Initiate Cases Against Latushko Because Of Violence Against Detainees

The Investigative Committee of Belarus refused to initiate criminal proceedings against Pavel Latushko, a member of the Presidium of the coordinating Council of the opposition, because of reports of violence used by law enforcement officers against detained citizens, according to the letter of the representative of the UK to Latushko, which he published on Friday in his channel in Telegram.

"Since your appeal does not contain information about specific crimes, victims, and other circumstances, there are no grounds for the investigative Committee to conduct a check directly on this appeal and make decisions following the procedure established by the Criminal procedure code," the letter says.

However, the IC noted that according to the divisions of Committee reports and statements of citizens about illegal use of law enforcement officers of physical force and special means checks are carried out, the results of which applicants will be notified in the manner prescribed by law.
