Huawei Will Launch Smartphones On Its Operating System, Harmony OS, Starting From 2021
Huawei today confirmed a rumor that the company is going to launch smartphones on Harmony OS. The Chinese company Huawei from 2021 will produce smartphones on its operating system Harmony 2.0, created against the background of trade restrictions from the United States, said the head of the company Richard Yu.
"Starting next year, Harmony OS 2.0 will be distributed to all smartphones. It will also significantly increase the power and efficiency of our mobile devices, " he said at the Huawei Developer Conference online.
According to him, the company intends to make a fully open operating system for developers of applications and services.
Huawei has introduced a new version of its OS — Harmony 2.0, which can work in addition to a smartphone, tablet, and PC on other smart devices, such as smartwatches, speakers, and car systems.
"Starting today, Harmony OS becomes open to IoT devices with 128 KB — 128 MB of memory. These include smart TVs, portable devices, cars, and others. In April 2021, we will open the code for devices with a memory from 128 MB to 4 GB, and from October 2021, the code will be open for devices over 4 GB," the head of Huawei added.
Huawei, in August 2019, introduced its operating system Harmony OS, which, according to Richard Yu, can replace Android.
