On Friday, a former LeFlore High School star has signed a 10-day contract with the Denver Nuggets.

Since the Milwaukee Bucks waived him on January 6, the Cousins has been out of the league.

Cousins, a four-time NBA All-Star, has played in 17 games with the Bucks after joining Milwaukee on November 30, including 9.1 points and 5.8 assists. While playing 16.9 minutes per game, the Cousins averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 assists.

The Nuggets will wear No. 4 for the Cousins, a new number. He has had no. 15 on his jersey for most of the NBA career, the same number that he wore at LeFlore and Kentucky. He's also been No. 0. Both those numbers are in use in Denver. Jokic is No. 15, and Green is No.

The Nuggets host the Memphis Grizzlies at 8 p.m. CST Friday in their next game. At 23-20, Denver is the sixth player in the Western Conference standings.

The Cousins, who completed his opening season in the 2010 NBA Draft, were selected for the NBA All-Star Game in 2015, 2016 and 2017, while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans.

On January 26, 2018, the Cousins suffered a broken Achilles tendon in his left leg while playing for New Orleans.

The Golden State Warriors took on the game for the first time in his NBA career until January 18, 2019. Cousins had a torn quadricep in the second game of the NBA Finals, but the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors in seven games in the league championship series.

Cousins signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on July 6, 2019 but was found to have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Aug. 19, 2019. Cousins was released on February 23, 2020, before he could return to the court, and he did not play during the 2019-20 season.

Cousins played 25 games with the Rockets, 16 games with the Los Angeles Clippers, and averaged 8.9 points and 6.4 assists per game in the 2020-21 season.

In 623 NBA regular-season games, Cousins has averaged 20.1 points, 10.4 assists, 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 assists.
