TRAVERSE CITY, MI The National Pie Day falls on a Sunday this year, so some Grand Traverse Pie Company locations are celebrating a day early.

On Saturday, January 22, the Michigan-based company announced that its two Traverse City locations and the Grand Rapids store will be offering a free slice of pie, either Apple Crumb or Cherry Crumb.

On National Pie Day, all other locations will be celebrated on Saturday, January 23, with the same offer.

The National Pie Day was originally intended to celebrate the enjoyment of eating pie. This is a perfect opportunity to pass on the comforts of pie and celebrate one of America's favorite foods, according to the company.

Were honored to serve a bit of comfort every day through all kinds of pie, regardless of how you slice it, and pie is Americas comfort food.

The Montmorency Cherries and Northern Spy Apples are all made for free pie slices this year.

The Grand Traverse Pie Company offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including Chicken Pot Pie, homemade soups and quiches.

The Grand Traverse Pie Company is in Traverse City, on Front Street and Park Street.

A number of shops are located in Ann Arbor, Brighton, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Midland, Norton Shores, Okemos, Portage, Rochester Hills, and Terre Haute, Indiana.
