Students are looking for time for change at the Rally for Educational Choice
On Monday, January 24, at 10:30 a.m., students gather on the Capitol to recognize and express their appreciation for school choice.
The students will spend the day on the Capitol museum and learn more about the state's civic community.
The Frankfort Capitol Rally comes on the heels of a tumultuous year for Kentucky education, with a new Education Opportunity Account program passing the legislature, but being challenged in court.
"It has been incredibly exciting to watch Kentucky join the National School Choice Act," according to Andrew Vandiver, president of EdChoice Kentucky. "Thanks to principled leadership from the Kentucky General Assembly, 2021 was a historic year.
The event is planned to coincide with the history-making National School Choice Week 2022, which will feature more than 26,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
EdChoice KY, a coalition aimed at educating the Commonwealth about educational choice initiatives, is organizing the event.
The Old State Capitol is located at 300 W. Broadway St.
National School Choice Week shines a spotlight on effective K-12 education options for children, focusing equally on traditional public, charter, magnet, online, private, and home education options. Every January, participants plan tens of thousands of celebrations such as school fairs and open houses to increase awareness about school choice across all 50 states.
