On 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, Walker Hayes will ring in 2022
Ryan Seacrest will make a bow until 2021 when he presents on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.
Hayes, a country singer-songwriter who grew up in Mobile, is expected to perform his No. 1 hit, Fancy Like, and his new single, AA, on the TV special. The show airs on ABC on December 31 at 7 p.m. ET and runs until 1 a.m.
The proceedings for New Year's Rockin' Eve, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, will take place in New York City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Puerto Rico. Seacrest -- a media personality and producer whos best known as the longtime host of "American Idol," will lead the proceedings from Times Square.
Hayes is on the so-called "LA Party," along with OneRepublic, Ciara, D-Nice, Macklemore, and Ryan Lewis with Windser, AJR and Daisy The Great, Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker, Big Boi with Sleepy Brown, Maneskin, Masked Wolf, French Montana and more.
Hayes is scheduled to make his debut at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on December 31, but its unclear how he will manage the two games. A quick flight between Miami and Los Angeles? Pre-record performances for New Years Rockin Eve? Well see.
Journey and Karol G. will perform in New York, but their performance has been canceled due to a positive COVID diagnosis.
A spot on New Years Rockin Eve for Hayes, 41, promises to be one more memorable moment in a long year.
Fancy Like was released on Billboards Country Digital Song Sales chart in June and was on the charts in July. The song went viral on TikTok, and was and prompted a remix version that paired Hayes with Kesha.
Hayes has made appearances on late-night TV and this year's finale for The Voice, performed Fancy Like on the special and earned platinum certification for the single from the Recording Industry Association of America.
The release date for his Country Stuff The Album has been announced. The new single will be released on January 21 and includes Fancy Like, the two new songs and ten other tracks.
Hayes began singing as a child at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mobile and met Laney Beville, a future wife, at St. Pauls Episcopal School, where they were both cast in the musical Little Shop of Horrors. The couple now has six children.
Hayes' latest EP, Country Stuff, the Album, features six tracks that are folded into the new Country Stuff.
Hayes will perform on his Fancy Like tour in 2022, including on February 17 at the Saenger Theatre in Mobile, and February 19 at Iron City in Birmingham.
