Iran Has Threatened The US With A "Decisive Response" To Actions In The Persian Gulf
Iran has threatened the US with a "decisive response" to actions in the Persian Gulf.
The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, part of the armed forces of Iran), commenting on the episode with American ships in the Persian Gulf, said that Iran will give a "resolute response" to any US error in the Gulf, the IRGC's Tasnim Agency quotes a statement.
The IRGC Navy in its statement confirmed that on April 15 in the Persian Gulf there was an incident with US ships, but denied its details, pointing out that it was the US that conducted provocative and dangerous actions, and described the American version of the incident as a story "in Hollywood style."
"We advise the Americans to comply with international rules and Maritime protocols in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman and to refrain from any adventures and false reports. The IRGC Navy and the armed forces of Iran consider the actions of foreign forces in the region as a red line that threatens national security, and they will respond decisively to any miscalculation," the IRGC statement said.
The Islamic revolutionary guard corps also reported dangerous behavior and unprofessional actions by the US Navy on April 6 and 7 that intercepted an Iranian ship, indicating that after these episodes, it decided to increase its patrol of the Persian Gulf.
Earlier, the Central Command of the US Navy reported that Iranian boats of the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps (IRGC) on April 15 maneuvered dangerously near American warships in the Persian Gulf.
The US military reported that the boats "cut off" the American ships at a very high speed and close distance, they came to one of the ships at 45 meters, to the other-at 10 meters, but about an hour later, the Iranian boats responded to calls on the radio and moved away from the American ships.
In response to this report, Iranian Defense Minister Amir Khatami said that the US presence undermines the security of the region.
