New Severe Consequences Of Coronavirus For The Body Revealed

A severe coronavirus can infect human blood by attacking the hemoglobin in red blood cells. This is evidenced by research data from Italian scientists from the University of Verona, disclosed in the journal Hematology, Transfusion and Cell Therapy.

According to scientists, this means that artificial ventilation devices (ventilators) may be useless for the treatment of pneumonia in severe coronavirus infection since the level of hemoglobin in such patients is significantly reduced. In this regard, to assess the clinical picture, researchers suggest first checking the hemoglobin values in patients with coronavirus. If it is not enough, it can be regarded as an alarming symptom indicating the progression of the virus.

"Subsequently, research should be urgently conducted to assess whether blood transfusions can be useful in these clinical settings to prevent the development of severe disease and death," the text says.

On April 16, doctors from Italy and Spain reported that a rash on the legs of COVID-19 patients may be one of the symptoms of new coronavirus infection. Doctors came to this conclusion after analyzing similar cases. At the moment, one in five infected Italians who are in the hospital has a skin disease.
