The media reported that on Wednesday, defender Benjamin Mendy has been charged with an additional count of rape as well as earlier charges of rape and sexual assault in Manchester City.
Mendy, 27 now faces eight counts of rape against five women, including seven counts of assault.
Mendy's charges are alleged to have occurred between October 2020 and August 2021. The latest charge is related to a new complainant, and they're alleged to have happened in July.
Mendy was last in charge of City against Tottenham on Aug. 15 but later later that month, was suspended by the Premier League club. He has since been arrested in August.
Mendy signed for City in 2017 for a fee of approximately six million pounds ($69,25 million).
