Russian Air Carriers Reported An Increase In The Price Of Kerosene To 62%

The Russian Association of Air Transport Operators (RAATO, Russian AEVT), which unites air carriers, appealed to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation because of the sharp increase in the cost of aviation kerosene at airports. According to the conducted tenders for the supply of aviation fuel for August-September 2020, the cost of kerosene at various airports increased from 18% to 62% compared to July-August. It's worth noting that the increase in fuel prices will affect the cost of air tickets.

"AEVT asks the Ministry of transport, together with the Ministry of energy and the FAS of Russia, to initiate a review of the validity of a sharp increase in the cost of aviation kerosene at Russian airports," the Association said in a statement.

As previously reported, Rosaviatsia wants to extend the program of subsidizing airlines until September, increasing the compensation for each passenger lost against the background of COVID-19 to 840 rubles. In particular, it is proposed to include in the list of compensable expenses for maintenance of the fleet of aircraft and aircraft engines, as well as for jet fuel. Now the compensation is 365 rubles, and at the current rate of reduction of passenger traffic, companies could not choose the entire amount of state support until the end of July.
