Damage From The Explosion In The Port Of Beirut Is Tentatively Estimated At $3 Billion
Insurance companies have previously estimated losses from the explosion in the port of Beirut at $3 billion, about the same as from the explosions in the port of Tianjin in August 2015, Splash reports.
Although the explosion in Beirut on Tuesday last week was more powerful than in the Chinese port five years ago, more expensive cargo, including thousands of cars, was destroyed in Tianjin. The number of insurance claims resulting from the accident at the port of Tianjin was, until today, the largest in the history of port insurance in peacetime.
According to the latest data, more than 150 people have been killed in Lebanon, and many are missing. The Governor of Beirut said yesterday that many victims who had no ties to residents, such as drivers or foreigners working at the port, could not be identified.
