Dmitry Rogozin Said That Enthusiasts Who Are Ready To "Burn" Would Fly To Deep Space

Only real enthusiasts who are ready to burn out, but achieve their goals, will really be able to fly into deep space, according to the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin in Yuri Kostin's program "Personal connections," published on YouTube and Mir TV channel.

"First, there must be special people who are ready to do this, and we need to understand their motivation <...> If these are really unique space enthusiasts who are ready to burn out, but achieve their goals, then these are the people we need," Rogozin said, answering a question about deep space flights.

At the same time, he stressed that for missions in deep space, those for which such a flight is a step of desperation would not be suitable. "If this is just a step of desperation when they just want to leave this mortal earth and fly somewhere, then anything can be expected from them, so it is unlikely that they will pass our psychological tests," the head of Roscosmos said.

Besides, as Rogozin noted, to conquer deep space, it is necessary to create a "huge" number of technologies that ensure human life at a distance from Earth and without support from Earth, in particular, technologies for air, water, food regeneration, technologies for surgical intervention on Board a ship or station, additive technologies for creating parts, 3D printers for growing organs, human tissues, and many others.
