Lebanon's Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad Resigned On Sunday
The reasons for this decision have not yet been reported. The day before, an anti-government demonstration took place in the Central part of Beirut, which turned into riots. Sami Gemayel, the leader of the opposition Kataib party, called for mass anti-government actions earlier.
The protesters, in particular, accused the ruling coalition of Lebanon of corruption, demanded early elections, and an independent investigation of the violent explosion that took place on August 4 in the port of Beirut, which killed 158 people and destroyed a significant part of the infrastructure of the Lebanese capital.
