Russian mixed martial artist Alexey Oleynik lost to American Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night 174 in Las Vegas (USA, Nevada). Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tournament took place without spectators.
The heavyweight bout ended with the 35-year-old American winning by technical knockout in the second round.
Initially, it was assumed that Oleynik would hold this fight in June. However, the Russian refused and offered to shift the fight to a later date. The organization decided that the fight will headline the tournament in Las Vegas on August 9.
The 43-year-old Oleynik now has 59 wins, 14 losses, and one draw. He has been competing in MMA since 1996. Lewis has a record of 24 wins and seven losses, with one more fight declared void.
In another match of the tournament, Russian fighter Omari Akhmedov met American Chris Weidman. The fight in the Middleweight category ended in favor of the American by a unanimous decision of the judges. The 36-year-old Weidman, who is a former UFC champion, now has 15 wins and five losses. The 32-year-old Akhmedov has 20 wins, five losses, and one draw.
