Swarna Palace Fire: 10 Died, 18 Injured
At least ten people died, and more than eighteen others were injured in a fire that broke out on Sunday at the Swarna Palace hotel in India, which is currently used as a quarantine and treatment facility for patients with a coronavirus infection. As reported on Sunday by The New Indian Express, the fire occurred in the city of Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh.
"As a result of the incident, ten people were killed, and 15-20 people were injured. They were rushed to the hospital. Two or three of them are in critical condition, " the TV channel quoted a local police officer as saying.
As indicated by NDTV, the fire caused panic among patients, several of them jumped out of the building to save their lives. A total of 22 patients were treated at the facility.
According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was a short circuit.
