Grand Haven psychologist charged again in 2020 after being Jailed for sexual assault charge

A Grand Haven psychologist now faces a new charge in 2020, after being judged on a sexual assault charge.

William Peter Kooistra, 58, was arraigned Monday, Nov. 29 in Grand Haven District Court on a charge of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct by a mental health professional.

Kooistra, who was caught in 2020, pleaded guilty to attempted fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.

According to Grand Haven police, the additional charge stems from a May 2020 incident that preceded Kooistra's registration being suspended by the state Board of Psychology's Disciplinary Subcommittee.

According to police, Kooistra was initially charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegations relating to his mental function in March 2020, according to police, and the charge led to his subsequent plea.
