The European Commission Has Launched An Investigation Into Google's Intention To Acquire Fitbit
The European Commission (EC) has launched an investigation into the intention of the US Corporation Google to acquire the manufacturer of smart wristbands and fitness trackers Fitbit, according to the EC statement issued on Tuesday in Brussels.
"The European Commission is launching an investigation into the proposed acquisition of Google Fitbit. The European Commission is concerned that the proposed acquisition will further strengthen Google's position in the online advertising markets by increasing the already huge amount of data that Google can use for personalization in ads displayed by the company, " the EC said in a statement.
Last November, Google announced that it was buying the manufacturer of smart wristbands and fitness trackers, Fitbit, for $2.1 billion.
Fitbit is an American company founded in 2007. It produces consumer electronics products, including fitness and physical activity monitoring devices.
