The World Health Organization will hold a special expert meeting from Geneva on Monday morning for an assessment of a new variant of B.1.1.529, due to rising concerns, said the spokesperson for the WHO.
"WHO will hold a meeting... to better understand the time of research under way, to determine if this is a part of interest or a concern" (WHO is gathering a meeting between participants) and to clarify the plans for the study which is underway.
Having had no comment for now on travel restrictions imposed on Southern Africa to date on the variant linked to, he added.
