The Canadian environmental watchdog rapped the Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for ignoring the incoherent and poorly designed efforts to slow climate change.

Canada has never met the target of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by 2030 from 2005 levels, and to make Canada carbon-neutral by 2050.

Despite recent efforts, Canada has gone from being a climate leader to falling behind other developed countries. "Over the past thirty years, Canada has never left behind one another in terms of the environment and sustainable development." said Jerry DeMarco, the Commissioner for Environment and Sustainable Development.

The number of grave floods this month in British Columbia has risen to 4, but some experts say is a link of climate change. The estimated ten people have died and destroyed the railways and the road and damaged the canals.

The government's purchase of the trans mountain oil pipeline in 2018, "in an attempt to complete an expansion that faced stiff opposition," is an example of the tense policy's incoherence with progress toward climate commitments," wrote DeMarco.

It would be an important part of the energy production province of Alberta. Trudeau says Canada is still going to need fossil fuels for decades, adding that a purchase would help the provincial government enforcing it.

DeMarco, who also criticised a programme of the Natural Resources department's Emissions Reduction Fund, which sought to financially support oil and gas firms struggling with low prices last year, while accelerating efforts to limit emissions.

The program didn't have an aim to make the emissions reduces, nor to cost the money, he wrote.

In a statement, Steven Guilbeault said, "On a Climate Change, in the United States, a country of unity, and his actions led to the government's independence,", said Wilkinson, deputy minister of the Environment, in a joint statement.

They said, "We're confident we've put in place the fundamentals... to take Canada's climate fight to the next level."

The government of Trudeau introduced a carbon price and says it plans to reduce gas emissions.
