There is no tradition like Thanksgiving Day football in Massachusetts.

After one-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic, high school teams returned to the field to play rivalry games. With over 180 teams in the country, they started preparing turkey and pumpkin pie.

Where you get the final score, you won't see your team.

Thanksgiving high school football games are among the most special sports traditions in Massachusetts, fostering connections and gathering memories that make up the future.

In this tradition, Channel 5s Thanksgiving football special hosted by Mike Lynch has been a welcome part of this tradition for over thirty years - after the satisfying meal, the dessert.

The program, titled High Five Salute to Thanksgiving Heroes, aired for thirty minutes early in the evening, showing highlights, scores and scenes from many games as possible.

It was a massive undertaking, but full-time love for Lynch, a legendary athlete in Swampscott High who in 1982 ran as sports anchor for Channel 5, and was eager to lend his due to high school sports.

The main point is to the fact that this year, the tradition ends. The WCVB management decided that there's not a public show.

Boston English and Boston Latin is the longest continuously played rivalry in the nation. Boston Latin is a most lopsided rivalry with Latin going to the game with an 83-37-13 victory.

The victory put it 83-38-13 on the ground at Harvard.

During the first game of the coachs coaching/playing career, it sounded like the first Latin vs. English game, which ended up winning for the Blues and Blues, and winning the Blues.

At the 25th anniversary of the Chowder Bowl, North Eastham, the visiting Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins (5-5) swept their rivals (9) with the Nauset Warriors (3-8).

The teams played three scoreless quarters before Moore ran a 2-yard score with 9:10 remaining on the snap. In the end zone, Moore plunged into the final zone for another TD from just outside the 1-yard line to make it 14-0 with 6:14 remaining.

We took the plunge and he acted well and reacted well. "Lets give a ball to our best player and hope he could get some tough yards for us. He was really good at getting his hand over to us and he has done a great job, said Marsh. We'd like to say it, We said, Lets give our best player the ball and hope he can get some great yards for us, and he did a great job.

The Warriors Offensive MVP honors Corey Vendetti and Chad Caramanna were named offensive most Valuable Player for D-Y. Seniors Louis and senior Levens Louis earned the award of Defensive MVP for D-Y.

The Abington Green Wave won the 110th installment of the Turkey Day rivalry contest against Whitman-Hanson, 31-19.

The consolation prize is a win over the rival St Johns Prep.

Unlike Yverian, when they missed a state championship, Xaverian is aiming to succeed in an athletic event.

It was a big day at Harvard Stadium, a Globe correspondent reports.

According to a PA announcer, Boston English beat Boston Latin by 66-42. This is the highest scoring total in the rivalrys history.

Everett continued to do what it did on Thanksgiving: win big.

On Thursday morning, The Crimson Tide blew a 44-14 win over Saint Johns of Shrewsbury at Everett Veterans Memorial Stadium.

According to the senior tailback, Having guys that I consider family on this team and getting a family-like attitude on Thanksgiving, a family day means all. He finished his campaign with 1195 yards and 19 scores.

The fact that I have to leave in Everett, play Pop Warner since I was five, it's a blessing. And the fact that I need to leave is kind of sad, but it's not till soon.

Everett has been 205-25 since 2001, last year they lost their Thanksgiving game to Cambridge.

The Tide defeated Cambridge in 10 consecutive meetings after winning the 2001 Super Bowl, then had no Thanksgiving opponent from 2012-16 and then beat Masconomet in three straight meetings from 2017-19.

The proud program can hope that Saint Johns may end an uphill battle in 2019, but abandoned the tradition of its 95-year tradition with St. Peter Marian until a merger of the Catholic school in 2019. That school has to be merged with St. Pauls in 2018, but now it still looks for new rivalry as well.

Thanksgiving football is special in Massachusetts. We know that Saint Johns of Shrewsbury is a top-notch program, said Everett coach Rob DiLoreto. Today was a difficult day and well see what the future brings.

After the development of the South Shore football community, as long as it was when the Hingham football coach Mark Nutley and his family needed to raise the hand, South Shore community came back.

One lucky Quincy native and Marshfield resident wasnt sure if he could coach at Hingham, his fourth year at the helm because his wife, Becky, has a tubular polyoma test in order to acquire multiple myeloma.

With two boys, Adam and Sean playing multiple sports, and the responsibilities of working as a middle school teacher at Point Webster School in Quincy, Nutley wasn't sure that he had the time to run a program and be there for his wife.

Even generous citizens from Hingham, Marshfield, Quincy and North Quincy where Becky works as a guidance counselor stepped up to provide meals, raise funds for myeloma research, and even chip into the yard work at the Nutley house.

Old friends Norwell and Jeff Perkins are now on opposite sides of a border rivalry.

On Thursday morning, Norwell hosts Hanover in the 55th installment of their Thanksgiving series, as the holiday tradition returns to the state, after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Hanover leads the series 31-22-1.

In 1990 when he and the Bulldogs faced Randolph in Rockland High, Perkins was his sixth-grade English teacher, Perkins. And when Kelliher attended Rockland High, and started working at the Blue Devils' training camp, Perkins was the head coach of the Blue Devils.

It can be tempting for his father to bring work home if he is his football coach, too.

Even if it is Thanksgiving games, coaches Robert Ferrante (Framingham), Dave Woods (Bishop Fenwick) and Brian Vaughan (Lynn Classical) said theyve done a concerted effort for many years to avoid inundating their sons with extra football talk outside practices, even when it comes to Thanksgiving games.

On Thursday morning Steven Woods will quarterback Fenwick against Malden Catholic and Brian James Vaughan will quarterback Lynn Classical in the 107th edition of its city rivalry with Lynn English. Senior wide receiver Joe Ferrante will hope to push Framingham to the defeat of Natick.

Fenway Park once again played host to many games earlier this week. Here are the results click on each of those players to read about the game.

The pandemic brought some of the oldest Thanksgiving rivalries to an early stage. However, Massachusetts returned in force this week with great matches across the state.

Here are some of the most favourite games to watch.

Two undefeated teams are gearing up for their respective Super Bowl appearances the following week, but neither program will likely sit starters in this rivalry at the 111th edition.

King Philip led the game with two defeats ahead of the Division 2 Super Bowl clash with Catholic Memorial.

Boston French (at Harvard): For the first time since 1887, English at Latin was absent on Thanksgiving last fall; the long-standing public school rivalry takes over and Latin has won 52 of the last 56 meetings while Latin has won 52.

This historic city won the rivalry game from 1893-1921, that changed to Thanksgiving from 1924-1972. The Lexington has won 22 regular season matchups since Turkey Day tradition ceased, but C-C is at a 25-18-4 edge on Thanksgiving as the tradition resumes.

Reading at Stoneham: James Murphy and the Rockets struggled against CM in the state quarterfinals in the D2- State quarterfinals while Stoneham was upset in the D5 semifinals. Now Reading, 663-18-4) will thrash the olympic olympics, and have dominated.

The Warriors will look to replicate that magic on the road.

Tewksbury, with its 51-29-7 edge all-time series, is now a season to remember and the senior-laden Wildcats are ready to defend their home turf.

The battle between the Catholics remained short during the division 1 state tournament in Xaverian: Both eu-God (Island) and the Catholics became a difficult member of their rivalry in the fifth installment of their rivalry.

As soon as the Dragons take on the Patriot League rival Scituate in the Division 4 Super Bowl, the Dragons will be looking to play with the League title on the line.

They both continue to rise after a few years. Chelmsford holds the 58-28-4 series lead and is hoping for a tough road win at Billericas new stadium.

Former announcer Jim Lederman who played in the 1959 Thanksgiving game against Revere will be in the booth for 50th straight edition of his Vikings' rivalry, 56-32-1.

The Crimson Tide, which was defeated by Methuen in the first round, will be a hard Catholic Conference foe in the first edition of what may become a long-standing rivalry.

This week, 16 teams will take their shots at Super Bowl title at Gillette Stadium next week, 16 teams will take their shots to Super Bowl matches (PSC) in hopes of winning a bigger prize. But they have said they wont let up when they will return from Thanksgiving.

Heres a breakdown of how well the teams are in the Super Bowls for every eight divisions and when these games are.
