Los Angeles suffered the smallest home defeat in the season as the team-opener against Sacramento opened the game.
The Blazers have won nine home games since then. Unfortunately for the Blazers (11-8), they are 1-7 on the road.
This road trip has gotten very hot, with nine out of its last 10 games losing. They fired coach Luke Walton and replaced him with interim head coach Alvin Gentry on Sunday.
If the Blazers prove they play well on the road, no opponent should be taken lightly. Portland's lone road victory was at Houston (1-16) on Nov. 12 - the Blazers didn't also play well that night.
So, can this team take what it displayed while doing 4-0 at home on this most recent homestand with them on the road?
The Blues will play at Golden State (15-2) and on Friday (11-6).
One of the benefits the Blazers experienced during their homestead was their two day off between two games before their first day of work. They learned to practice time that they didn't have on the most recent trip which began after back-to-back games at Moda Center.
These days of practice allowed the Blazers to solve some issues, and therefore they should have some time to do the same for this actual road trip.
We're going to stay on top of the way we dealt with things, said Robert Covington. Keep moving to that direction.
That direction is creating synergy on defense and defense. It needed time considering that the team adjusting to new systems under first-year coach Chauncey Billups is adjusting to new systems.
Were starting to understand precisely what Chauncey and the staff want from us, CJ McCollum said. And I think were making strides each night. I think you can't see that, especially at home. We're getting more connected.
Billups said he began the season with a long list of plays, to give him a better idea of how his team executes at a high level and reduced the play options.
Now were starting to sort of figure out what plays kind of work for us, he said. And now theyre running it with the right timing. Understand what we are looking for, first and second and third options on it, and so that we feel like our offense is making some strides.
Now they need to show the same level of efficiency on the road.
The kids are playing very confidently and with great contributions from many players. We're doing it as a team.
