A German group says the Russian coalition lacks a clear message on Belarus

the new government hasn't fully understood its view on the conflict over a proposed border to the EU border with Belarus, a senior german conservative member of the bloc's parliament said.

On Thursday, Manfred Weber, head of the group - Centre-right EuropeanPocational Group, told reporters on Thursday.

"I missed a clear message that you can't blackmail the European Union, all the attacks that are carried against the European Union will be stopped and the German government supports that" he said.

Weber said the government taking over from Chancellor Angela Merkel seems to take an overall approach of continuity towards the EU, and spelt out clear decisions on China, Russia and the rule of law in eastern European member states.

He said a new government has to work with the French President Emmanuel Macron for a single phase of the European defence union, but he insists that it's necessary that Berlin and the United States collaborate to come together to discuss and meet trade and trade.
