The French Prosecutor's Office Asks To Resume The Investigation Against Gerard Depardieu In The Case Of Rape
The French Prosecutor's office has sent a request to the investigating judge to reopen the investigation into the rape case in which the actor Gerard Depardieu is accused, according to France-Presse, citing a source in the Prosecutor's office.
This request was sent on Friday after the young actress, who had already written a statement on Depardieu in 2018, again appealed to the justice authorities. The Agency notes that her complaint in the form of a civil lawsuit implies an almost automatic investigation.
The investigation into a complaint filed in August 2018 with the Prosecutor's office in AIX-EN-Provence (southern France) was terminated in June 2019. The unnamed actress, who claimed to have worked with Depardieu, claimed that he harassed her when she came to his home for an "informal play rehearsal" on August 6 and 13, 2018. After numerous checks and questioning of the actor, investigators did not find sufficient grounds to bring charges.
