Trump Says He Will Ban TikTok In The US
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he intends to ban the Chinese social network TikTok on the territory of the United States, according to the White House press pool.
"Once [we] touched on [the topic of] TikTok, we ban them in the US," the head of state told reporters on board his plane on the way from Florida to Washington. According to Trump, measures against the social network can be taken as early as Saturday.
As noted in the message, the American leader explained that he could sign an Executive order or use emergency economic powers.
According to the press pool, the head of the White House also made it clear that he does not support the acquisition of TikTok by any American company.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that Trump intends to force the Chinese company ByteDance to give up its stake in TikTok so that it could not control the work of the social network in the United States. Later, the Agency reported that the US Corporation Microsoft might acquire a share in The developed ByteDance social network.
