A Car Drove Into A Crowd Of People In France. Thirteen People Injured
Thirteen people were injured when a car hit a crowd in front of a bar in the commune of Wenzel in Eastern France, according to the Prefecture of the Saone-et-Loire Department.
"Doctors examined 16 people, 12 of them were found to have minor injuries, three were in a state of shock. Another young girl suffered serious leg injuries, but her life is not in danger," the communique said.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around midnight. After an altercation between several patrons of the bar, "a car hit people who were in front of the establishment." Police officers arrived at the scene and detained the driver, who was intoxicated. The reasons for the conflict are not specified.
According to the regional publication Le Journal de Saône et Loire, the 20-year-old man who was driving left the establishment and along with three other people and was about to leave. When several people knocked on the back of his car, he abruptly backed up, knocking down people nearby, and then, despite the attempts of witnesses to prevent him from leaving the Parking lot, fled the scene. The police stopped him on the road a few kilometers from the bar.
