Twitter Increases Security Measures After The Hacker Attack
The management of the social network Twitter has strengthened security measures during the investigation of the circumstances of the hacker attack, which resulted in the hacking of the accounts of many famous companies and people in mid-July, according to the announcement on Thursday by the Twitter support service.
"Since the attack, we have significantly reduced access to our internal tools and systems to ensure the security of accounts during the investigation," the company said in a statement posted on its website. According to the social network's support service, access to some Twitter features has been temporarily blocked, including the ability to download account data.
In total, according to the support service, 130 accounts were attacked by hackers, 45 of them were used by hackers to post publications, 36 of them received access to personal correspondence, and seven of them were able to download personal data of users.
On July 15, several American corporations and famous people posted messages of approximately the same content on Twitter. In them, the alleged scammers encouraged users to transfer funds in cryptocurrency to the account specified in the messages. In exchange, they offered to return the amount in double the amount.
Apple and Uber accounts were attacked. Besides, the personal pages of the head of Tesla and SpaceX companies Elon Musk, Microsoft founder bill gates, the head of Amazon and the world's richest man Jeff Bezos, the head of the Berkshire Hathaway investment Fund Warren Buffett, rap musician Kanye West, former US President Barack Obama (2009-2017), former us Vice President Joseph Biden, who is expected to be the Democratic candidate for the presidential election, were hacked.
