Uber Has Abandoned Plans To Move Its Regional Headquarters From Singapore To Hong Kong
Uber Technologies has abandoned plans to move its regional headquarters in the Asia-Pacific region from Singapore to Hong Kong, according to an interview with CNA TV by a representative of Uber.
"In May, we announced plans that were supported by the public, "he said, adding that the company"did not receive the necessary level of certainty from the Hong Kong government."
In this regard, it was decided to keep the regional office in Singapore until at least the end of 2022.
The legislation of the special administrative region of the PRC does not allow such companies to provide private transportation services. At the same time, in March 2018, Uber was forced to leave the Singapore market, unable to withstand competition from a similar local company, Grab.
