Mark Esper: The US Is Discussing With Australia The Possibility Of Developing Its Hypersonic Weapons
The United States is discussing with Australia the possibility of creating hypersonic weapons, according to US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.
"We discussed a very wide range of issues regarding the potential of the United States and the potential of Australia. And our desire to promote it (potential of Australia), whether it is [in the field of] hypersonic [weapons ]or any other type of means," the Pentagon chief said.
"I think this is important when we think about the future, how to curb bad behavior in the Indian and Pacific regions, and how we protect the rules-based international order. In this case, it is specifically applied to China," Esper said. He spoke at a joint press conference of the heads of foreign and military departments of the United States and Australia on the results of a new round of their negotiations in the "2+2" format in Washington.
