Tapas Media is the digital publisher of webcomics and graphic novels such as Magical Boy and Snowner Award nominee DPS Only!. Tapas Media signed with CAA.
The agency will work with Tapas Media in an international market, in which it will deliver and sell its original IP from its studio Tapas brand, on TV, film, podcasts and other digital media.
Tapas Media is moving into producing feature movies and television series according to the rich content library of webnovels and webnovels, Kevin Nicklaus, Tapas Medias director of film and TV, said in a statement. The digital publisher was founded in 2012 by Chang Kim and was acquired in a $510 million deal by South Korea's Kakao Entertainment in May last December. Tapas Media launched its original content division, Studio Tapas, to expand its catalog of more than 70 originals, including Magical Boy. The series has 4.8 million views and a roughly 1,000 weekly subscriber.
In June, Tapas Media named Jamie S. Rich, a comic alum of Dark Horse and DC Comics, as its editor in chief.
