Alex Azar: The US Has All The Necessary Tools To Counter The Pandemic
The United States authorities have all the necessary tools to deal with outbreaks of coronavirus infection, which are observed in a number of American States, according to United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar.
"As the President said, we are facing a very serious situation with these outbreaks. This is serious, but the good news is that thanks to the President's leadership, we have the tools to deal with it. The health system has the [necessary] capacity; we have personal protection means," the Minister said.
In response, the CBS host asked to clarify whether this means that the number of deaths due to the disease caused by the new coronavirus will be higher than previously predicted. "It's not so much about forecasts, but about what we do with it. We need to wear protective masks, we need to observe the social distance, personal hygiene rules. In areas where there are hot spots, you need to close bars, limit food consumption indoors (inside restaurants and cafes), and limit our meetings at home. We know it works," Azar said.
"If we put on our masks, we can avoid further closures, and if not, there will be consequences," the head of the US Ministry of Health warned.
In recent weeks, several American states, including Florida, Arizona, Texas, and California, have seen the highest rates of disease growth. In this regard, the local authorities have suspended the process of easing or lifting sanitary restrictions that were started earlier.
According to the Johns Hopkins University, which conducts calculations based on information from Federal and local authorities, more than 4.19 million cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the United States, and more than 146 thousand people died.
